The name Black Dragon acknowledges the Chinese miners who made a home in Derby in times gone by. Perched on the rocky slopes above Devilwolf, Black Dragon is a black diamond trail for experienced riders.
Constructed by hand, it features a climb and descent all highly technical, with rock slabs, steep pinches and aggressive drops. It also links to Dam Busters, offering an alternative descent for riders coming down Dam Busters.
Handbuilt trails are a rarity in the modern mountain bike park, especially ones like this. Black Dragon is a properly challenging, technical trail, climbing and descending the ridgeline steeply. You can ride it as a loop from Devil Wolf (fair play to you if you clear the whole climb!) or ride it as an alternative descent on Dambusters.
