Year 9 - 12 students as well as mature-age students from the wider community. The centre is equipped to provide training in building and construction, electrotechnology, brick laying, plumbing, engineering, wood, machining, metals and automotive. Students are practically trained with skills needed to be job ready, receive career advice and help moving into a job or further training. The facility features:
- Three workshop areas: building and construction; common workshop for non-metals; common workshop for metals, as well as an auto-electrician/mechanic workspace.
- Outdoor learning area featuring a multi-use sandpit (e.g. for pipe laying and foundation work), wash-down area and materials store.
- Industry standard equipment and facilities

Located on the first floor of Scottsdale's Learning and Information Networks Centre (LINC), Dorset Education and Training Centre provides the opportunity to attain the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) without the need to leave the Dorset Community. Delivered face-to-face, most courses are 100 - 150 hours classroom time and focus on the five standards of literacy, numeracy, ICT skills, Pathway Planning and evidence of participation and achievement.
E-Learning programs are also delivered. Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses all have industry work placement components of between 120 to 240 hours.
